Making Your Movie – Post-production – Editing – Sound, Lighting and SFX

Having the software to edit is one thing, but how do I improve things if they are already recorded! And where do I get special effects like explosions and storms and cools stuff like that?

Tell us about the tricks and tips you’ve used to improve your film…

I formatted my first movie on Imovie. Then for the second one I bought Final Cut 10 and it's so bad! It's bad, bad, bad!
And I don't say "bad" very often.
For the third movie I was editing with a professional editor. He had FC 10 and the previous version. He couldn't do anything on FC 10, right in front of my eyes. The previous version looks a bit more complicated but it does the work. FC 10 just doesn't work. At first I thought it was me, but then I knew it's clearly not. Am I wrong?

From what I've heard, a lot of people are leaving PCP for other editing software thanks to the crummy PCP 10.

I start editing on Final Cut Pro tomorrow.

I've never done this before and, as the universe is throwing all she can at me at the moment, it is no surprise to learn that the tutor is away on the two free days I have!!

So, armed with two books from the library and a key for the suite, I will attempt it on my own.

Wish me luck!!
