MoviePoet.com is dedicated to the art of screenwriting, in particular, the short screenplay. Each month, we run a free online five page screenplay contest. Our goal is threefold: help writers improve their craft, celebrate our best work, and connect writers and their scripts with filmmakers.

On the first of each month we announce a new contest. During that month, you can enter your script. During the next month, you can read, vote, and comment on all the entries. Finally, during the third month, the results are announced and all the scripts are searchable in our database.

If this is your first time here, please take a look at our FAQ. MoviePoet.com is growing every day and I hope you join in on the fun.

Contest: "Tournament of Champions" (1 entry so far)

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary we are having our first ever "Tournament of Champions". This contest is only open to those members who have placed first, second, or third in any of our short script contests. Additionally, each script must feature the words "movie" and "poet", but without any references to the Movie Poet web site or its members.

Contest: "Feature ~ Round 1 of 3: Logline" (108 entries)

This is the first of three rounds in our annual feature length script contest.

In this first round, writers submit their title and logline (no more than 500 characters). The top 30 writers move on to the second round in April, when they submit their first ten pages. In August, the top ten writers move on to the third and final round, when they submit their finished scripts.

Contest: "Fifth Year Open" (26 entries)

This is our fifth annual open challenge. There is no theme requirement and you may submit any five page (or less) script. However, to enter this contest, you must have given more reviews than you have received and you must be a level 3 member or higher.
